TOPIC: As we wrap up another year this is probably a good time to look to the future..

What will media enterprise infrastructure look like in 2036? Current trends of IT/IP/cloud provide some guidance for the structure of future systems. This presentation takes a deep look at the evolution of system’s components and architecture and examines some possible scenarios for infrastructure choices. Considered will be; extrapolated trends for transport, networking, storage, compute and cloud futures. Discussion of exponential technology growth and its impact on media creation, production and distribution. Hear Michele, a digital assistant in 2045, discuss the media enterprise under her command.

PRESENTER: Al Kovalick.

Al has 22 years of experience in video systems design, workflow evaluation and analysis. He wrote the first book in the field on converged AV + IT systems and file-based workflows. "Video Systems in an IT Environment; The Basics of Networked Media and File-Based Workflows"​ discusses the salient aspects of these two worlds.

Al is a SMPTE Fellow and Director of Education. He was awarded the SMPTE David Sarnoff Medal in 2009. He holds 13 patents across a broad range of technologies.
